Carter La Voce review

Pros:
Set up was perfect on arrival, no need for additional adjustments. String action low and without fret buzz
Tone of the pickups warm and cleaner than my Les Paul and PRS, sustain also as good or better
Love the z-glide
Gold trim on the purple color is very attractive-personal taste, I know
Comfortable weight (for an old guy)
Beautiful case!

Cons:
C or V-shaped neck (not sure which it is) is uncomfortable, would prefer D-shaped like my Les Paul
Output jack very tight and low to body, difficult to insert and remove cord without risking scratches to finish
Wood grain is not what I expected in a quilt top, very unappealing and inconsistent with examples on website
Not sure the coil splits are working properly, no discernible tonal difference (could be me, but I don’t think so)

Another level of quality, sound, and innovation!

Bought the quilt tobacco with rosewood, 7 Lbs 11 Oz, gorgeous top and hardware, sounds so good clean you feel guilty adding anything else to it but when you do it roars. Most comfortable playing of my 40 guitars and in a class of its own. If you see and play this guitar and it does not impress, someone needs to take your pulse. Won't be my last Dean Zelinsky. Also he didn't know me from Adam but texted back and forth with me about 10 times. Extraordinary customer service and the case is one of the nicest I own, if not the nicest! This company is a threat to the high end market from a price and quality standpoint and I'm just afraid he'll get bought out.

Fantastic guitar!

I've always wanted a Dean guitar (we Deans should stick together). After some research I was pleased to find Dean Zelinsky has a new operation. I've never bought a guitar without trying it before, so this was a leap of faith based on Mr. Zelinsky's reputation and great reviews. I'm glad I did, I just received my La Voce and played it all day. The biggest question in my mind was if I would like the Z-Glide neck. I do. It was not distracting as I thought it might be, and no learning curve to using it. I cant say it makes me play better, but I can definitely see how it would come in handy if you get sweaty palms. The tones are as advertised, it rivals my customized guitars with upgraded pickups. The playability is fantastic, I really like the feel. The finish is beautiful. Honestly, I think this will be my go-to guitar for anything that doesn't require tremolo dive bomb antics. Great work!

Beautiful at every level

I purchased the green Lahore with blonde neck and case.

As I opened up the case, which itself was really sharp and solid, I found the Lavoce wrapped with some protective foam. All the extra requested part were there! (Just ask Dean, he will take care of you!). The guitar was impeccable, color was simply gorgeous, neck/body balance on your knee is perfect. The neck z-glide took about one minute to get used to and like. I was a bit worried about it before tho, but all good. Setup was about as good as I have ever had so no changes needed there. Just plug it in! Sound is a solid combo of My PRSs, Les Paul and tele, however the level balance of the coil taps and even the piezo were all same level!!!! Awesome!!! Bold sound to be sure and this will go to work immediately. The body is super thin and the weight is great (very light).

I’m very happy with it so far and it has exceeded my expectations so far. I will gig with this and enjoy it! Not saving it for the future!! Ha ha.

Beautiful Work of Art

Wow, what a feeling opening the case for the first time and looking at that beautiful guitar! It could almost just hang on the wall and be worth the price. First impression plugging it in with a quick tuning...it's going to be a lot of fun. There are so many pickup and tone options to explore. I play at home for fun, and this guitar will allow me to play along with all my favorite genres, from metal to country, with a few quick adjustments. The piezo is very cool. I'm really looking forward to having a lot of fun with my new LaVoce.
